Generic Host Process for Win32

I have been trying to use Windows Update today. When I
scan for updates an error message appears stating "A
problem has occured with Generic Host Process for Win32
Services and will have to close. We apologise for the
inconvenience".

This is preventing me updating Windows to SP2.

Can anyone help?

The Generic Host is a host process for many different operating system
processes. If this is the first time you have seen this message, try again
another day.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried for two days in a row and got the same
message.

I did have the RBot virus and have removed that.

Any further thoughts?
