generic.dx! in memory

hi friends

my PC get infected with some viruses, i m using Mcafee 8.5i
when i ran scan it is showing win32 generic.dx! Location memory result deleted

but then all .exe files in my pc get infected & Mcafee deleted those files

then i have formatted total hard disk & reinstall Windows XP,
when i have started again it showing same problem
also 2-3 days back i got some viruses named as Win32/sality

i can't understand .....whts going..?

Try doing this in the order set out below...

Download and install then run one ofter the other.

1. Trend Micro Houscall[/url[

2.[url=http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/Win32-Sality-Remover.shtml]Win32/Sality Removal tool

3. Malwarebytes

4. Super Anti Spyware


First download and install 2, 3 and 4. Don't run them yet. Now goto the link in 1 and run House call and see what that picks up. Once that has finished, restart your computer in Safe Mode and run 2, 3 and 4 one after the other and see what they pick up.

If the problem still persists after that cn I suggest running a HJT report and post it over at Bleeping Computer.com

I would also suggest using a better AV than Mcafee. In my opinion it is rubbish. Hope this helps.

Also... when you've been infected don't do a normal format... alot of viruses can infect the file allocation table (FAT or equivilant) or even the master boot record (MBR).
After infection I try to do a low level format, if that's not possible (due to lack of tools) I delete the partition and recreate it, then format it.

i have already done that ....(delete partition & recreate)
but wht is low level format ?
is it by win 98...?
