Generating a subreport for a pass-through query

I have setup a cross-tab query that generates a freqency
distribution for a survey question - it shows how many
survey respondants enetered 1's, 2's, etc. I created a
report to display the totalcount of each of the
responses, but when i try and nest this report as a
subreport it gives me the error:

"YOU CAN'T USE A PASS-THROUGH QUERY OR A NON-FIXED COLUMN
CROSSTAB QUERY AS A RECORD SOURCE FOR A SUBFORM OR A
SUBREPORT. BEFORE YOU BIND THE SUBFORM OR SUBREPORT TO A
CROSSTAB QUERY, SET THE QUERY'S COLUMNHEADINGS PROPERTY."

I can't quite figure this one out. Any suggestions?

Have you set the Column Headings property of the Crosstab query?
