Generalising Powerpoint Presentation

I have made a presenation which contains an embedded sound file as well as
the standard slides, transitions etc. I burnt it onto a cd and have tried it
on a number of different computers. Each time I try it, it's different -
sometimes nearly all of the transitions are missing, sometimes only a few.
Sometimes the sound doesn't play and sometimes it does. Sometimes the colour
of the text has changed or the timings!! HELP!! Is this because other
people may have an earlier version of Windows? Is there a way to
'generalise' a powerpoint presentation like you can do with PDF files - I can
use any program to create a document and then turn it into PDF and it will be
able to be read on most other computers and it will stay the same. That's
what I need to do with powerpoint. Any help is most gratefully welcomed.

What version are you using?

If its 2003 use package for cd and embed fonts
Xp in tools>options tick the option to NOT use new animations

Should help

When you created the CD, did you include the viewer Or are you running the
presentation using whatever version of PowerPoint is on that particular
machine?

I was just running it using whatever version of PP was on the particular
machine. What's the deal with a viewer?

Not all versions of PowerPoint are equal. If you made your presentation
using 2003 the latest, and played it back on machines with earlier versions
a lot of the effects used in 2003 will not play. If you created a autorun
CD, your presentation would run on all computers as it uses the PowerPoint
viewer.
