Gears of war problem!

When I try to start GoW the game immediately drops to the taskbar! My mouse
is frozen. I have a workaround but I would rather fix it right. Please
advise...Vista 32...once the game runs all is great!

I dunno, new mobo chipset, really high end ram, SLI, etc. Try hardware
troubleshooting.

Assuming you know how to do hardware trouble shooting, and you built this
system yourself, try the following, but don't come to me if you mess up your
system.

Remove 2gigs ram
Remove 1 video card (or I guess you can just disable SLI in the control
panel, but I would remove it)
See if the game starts up and plays.

If it does try adding the video card and playing again.

If it works again, put the ram back in and run http://www.memtest.org/ for a
couple hours, see if your RAM is messed up.

You might try under-clocking your ram to PC-5300/667Mhz.

Other than what I suggested here, I don't know what to say, you seem to
understand the importance of video/audio card drivers (try disabling your
sound card, see if that makes a difference?). I'm not 100% certain here.

Thanks for the ideas...the intermittant problem (minimiseing to the taskbar)
happens on both of my desktops. I have tried all of your suggestions but the
underclock ram idea. I run my 1066 ram at 800 auto. It is a curious bug that
bothers me. The game runs fine at highest settings with out a hitch????

Dual monitor setup? games that don't restrict mouse movement will
occasionally let the windows mouse float outside the game window onto your
secondary monitor, if you left click, Windows thinks you're clicking on your
desktop and your full screen game will minimize.

Try diabling your second monitor in windows, see if the problem goes away.
