GDI leakage in Excel 2007

JPyle

Using the Task Manager I have been tracking down why my PC slows or locks
during the day. I have discovered that anytime that I leave Excel open with
or without a worksheet the GDI Object count slowly grows a few Objects at a
time. There are other applications running at the same time but only Excel is
taking all of the GDI object resources.

I've got two users with this issue (Not Enough resources to display) and they both have the Bloomberg add-in.

I just discovered something. It looks like it may not be related to
Bloomberg. I only have the problem when when I have both: worksheet
protection enabled AND have the "Home" tab selected. If I either turn off
protection OR have another ribbon tab selected (such as "Insert"), the GDI
leak stops. If I have the Bloomberg add-in disabled, the same result.

Please write back and let me know if you have the same results.

I've been trying for months to solve this problem. Did anyone ever find a
cure?

The only way we could fix it was to reinstall the entire operating system
using a Dell resotration disk. We tried to reinstall just Office but that
didn't work. Good luck.
