What are GDI Objects, and why are they multiplying?

I am finding that GDI objects are multiplying on my XP MCE 2003 laptop.
They are especially an issue with an app called wisptis.exe, which I
understand is a "pen input device tool for the Microsoft Tablet PC
Platform". Considering I do not have a tablet PC I do not know what the
point is. I am finding that powerpoint is showing odd effects, like missing
elements in charts, etc, during a presentation. When I close wisptis and
therefore shut down it's GDI objects via the task manager, things run
smoother.

How do I stop the GDI multiplication?
What can I do about wisptis.exe?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
After some looking around, I did find one persons solution to wisptis and
the GDI load. You may want to check this out, and see if it may work for
you.

Curt,
Following your link I found an application that disables wisptis.exe. When
I ran it, there was a note that said something like "do NOT disable
wisptis.exe if you use anything that even resenbles a pen, ever". With that
in mind, and with the task manager open, I launched powerpoint, ran a file
in show mode, then got out the pen tool that can write on the screen. The
moment I started the pen, wisptis appeared. Damn. However, after I quit
powerpoint, wisptis.exe did NOT go away. This may be part of the problem.

Here is that app. If you have an issue with wisptis.exe and are positive
you never do anything that involves a pen, then it may be of use...

I still don't know what GDI objects are, or why they collect the way they
do. Can anyone explain this?
