Gateway Mobo

We have an older system design based around the Intel D865GLC motherboard,
and a nice order for a bunch of the systems. We're having a hard time
acquiring new mobos, but found a potentially good source. However, they
appear to be Gateway overstock...they have a Gateway BIOS splash screen.

Does anybody know if we can simply flash the BIOS with the latest generic
Intel update and clear this splash screen?

Are there any other differences with a mobo made for Gateway?

Depends on the flash program, if it sees it's an OEM board it may not let
you flash it. If the logo is the only problem you may have the option to not
display it during POST in BIOS setup.

Thanks Dave. We'll have to get one of the boards and see how it goes. If
anybody else has experience with this, let me know.

Note that should the bios flash succeed but the Intel bios update does
not work with this motherboard, there might not be a recourse to revert
to the original bios revision. If at all possible, make every attempt to
save a backup of the bios that is present. There are subtle differences
between the motherboard that is made and sold by the manufacturer to the
public and that which is sold to an OEM (and possibly to the OEM's specs).
