I have Win XP and Win 98SE installed, although they are
on seperate drives.
When win XP starts (from the OS selection page) the
splash screen displays without problem, but the display
in windows itself is 'garbled'. This problem occurs from
the outset, and also whenever i refresh the screen or
anything is redrawn; the mouse pointer also displays
incorrectly.
I have tried installing the latest drivers for my video
card (a GeForce fx5200), to no effect. The problem was
the same before i installed any drivers for my card and
the standard adapter drivers were running. I have tried
different resolutions, color depths and have reformatted
the drive and done another clean install, al lto no avail.
Im not sure if this is a problem with my display adapter
or the fact that i have dual Os's but whatever it is its
driving me mad. If anyone has any possible solutions for
me please let me know, before i chuck my comuter out of
my window!
(and removing win 98 isnt really an option as i have work
applications that will only run in that OS)

Hi Ross,

You mentioned Windows 98 SE so I assume that your display works properly in
that installation. If it does, then you can safely consider that you need
to find the appropriate drivers for Windows XP. Does Safe Mode display
properly?

If you continue to have problems, I'd suggest you post in the nvidia
newsgroup.

To me, if the display is garbled with the drivers that XP automatically
installs, could be a hardware problem - but not clear why the display is
normal in Win 98. Anyway, I think you could get more help in the nvidia
newsgroup.
