gap when scrolling to the right of minimized screen

Jeanette

The site is www.spx.nsw.edu.au
The template, home.dwt, has 2 columns - one width 308, the other width
100%(645).
If the browser window (any resolution) is minimised to the point that a
horizontal scrollbar appears, then scrolling this scrollbar to the right
results in seeing a gap to the right of the page.
Anyone know what's wrong?
Thanks for taking the time to comment,
Jeanette

FYI at 800x600 you already have the scroll bar and "space"
- my guess is your absolute position elements are causing it

Isn't it a bit embarrassing to be an educational site and one of the menu
items is misspelled??! "Enrolment"

Dan,
I think you are the one who should be embarassed. How do you spell
enrolment?

The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary has it as enrollment. Maybe a country
difference? <vbg>

According to Wordnet both versions are used with the same meaning in the
first case but not the second:

Overview for "enrollment"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The noun "enrollment" has 2 senses in WordNet.

1. registration, enrollment, enrolment -- (the act of enrolling)
2. registration, enrollment -- (the body of people (such as students)
who register or enroll at the same time)

A search on Google shows that enrolment seems to be favored in other
English speaking countries than USA to describe the act of enrolling. In
USA it is more like 50/50.

Had you looked closer at Websters you would also have seen that enrol is
listed as a variant of enroll and hence enrolment as a variant of
enrollment.

My apologies. I Googled 'enrolment' and see that is proper spelling on .au
sites, .nz sites and others. Didn't mean to come across as an "ugly
American".

Jeanette, I can't figure out why the white space is at the right. By the
way, my dictionary has enrollment AND enrolment as proper spellings.

I think it's a blank table column (very thin one) showing the bg.

when I deleted that very skinny right-most empty table column it seemed to get rid of that white space...dunno how it will effect anything else though.

So...then Australian or Australlian will work as well?

Hay mate, I think I'll grab me a buttie and a couple of fried pommies to go wit me Foster's ay? :)

Hi Crash,
On a peaceful Saturday arvo in OZ.

No, I don't think we'd accept the spelling "Australlian" :)

Butties and fried pommies would go well together. When my wife and I were in
pommieland (otherwise known as England) last year, we found that poms simply
love fried everything (and my wife, unlike Jack Spratt's wife can eat no
fat).

Strangely, you won't find Fosters much in Australia. We exported it to the
world but CUB (Carlton and United Breweries) doesn't sell it much, if at
all, in Australia anymore. Our favourite beer (not mine, but Australia-wide)
is VB (Victoria Bitter) made by CUB.

Also, "ay" is not pure Australian, but a regional term, I think Queensland.

I'm sure that there are lots of regional language differences in USA, since
it is much the same size (if not population) as Australia.

Thanks Rob,
Deleting the right-most column does seem to do the trick, but it does seem
to set off a chain reaction.
I think I'll recreate the page from the start - using only the task pane,
not a combination of task pane and tables. It will be a lot cleaner.
Thanks for spotting the problem for me,
Jeanette
