Games in Vista

Hi.
I have several games, running properly in Win XP Prof SP2, and as I'm
considering to migrate to Vista Home Premium I would like to know if somebody
already ran them under the new OS.

Here some of the games for which I would like to have your comments - other
will follow when back at home.....
- Lego Star Wars (version 1)
- Jurassic Park Operation Genesis
- Motocross Madness 2
- Need for Speed Underground
- Pro Evolution Soccer 3
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
- Never Winter Nights (version 1)
- Star Wars Battlefilds (version 1)
...... I'll complete the list later.....

For info, my PC is home built, and the Vista Upgrade advisor 'approved' it...
MOBO Gigabyte 7VT600L, Athlon XP 2400+ processor
1.5 Giga RAM, 2 Hard disk (60 + 160 giga)
CD ROM drive + Master DVD Pioneer DVR110
AGP video card Sapphire ATI RADEON 9600 256 mb

I have not used any of those games so no 1st hand experience with
them.

While waiting for other responses, check with the game manufacturer
about windows vista compatibility.
You may need a patch for some.
When asking, be sure to give specifics such as version # etc.

More than likely as, long as they are not to old, they will work in
Windows Vista either normally, or Compatibility Mode.

I've used most of those games, and they work in Vista, no need to go to
Vistareadygames.net

I should ask why you are upgrading? Your system, while it does fall under
the "approved" category with the Vista Upgrade Advisor I would hardly call a
powerhouse of a system.

Some things that stand out, your video card is getting a little long in the
tooth, Vista Aero is gonna bog down a little with it, but it should be
adiquate. 1.5Gigs of RAM should be OK for those games, but if you can go to
2Gigs or more I'd recommend it.

How do the games run on your system now? If they run so-so, Vista will slow
them down a bit more, well at least that's the claim. I guess I'd love to
know why you want to upgrade this system to Vista instead of spending the
money on a new video card, more ram, faster cpu or something like that?
There's really nothing you've listed here that I would say, "Oh yeah, you
need Vista for that."

Vista Aero won't bog it down because it'll be disabled as soon as you run a

I did, and if aero doesn't bog down a game full screen, why does LOTRO get
better benchmarks on my system windowed vs. full screen?

I considered to migrate to Vista for the new features introduced. Since last
message, I replaced the video card (GeForce 7600GS 512 Mb - I found one at a
bargain price....), and migrated to Vista.

The Vista score is 3.4, and the lower value is the processor, while RAM,
Hard Disk and Video all scored 4.1 or higher, so I think it is a good result
indeed.

I played with Vista few days, installing all updates and patches available,
and I really like this OS - is 'nice' and 'robuste' for what I can see. Only
issue with my secondary HD, I had some troubles to have it available in
Vista....

But..... the compatibility is far to be good.... Lego Star Wars crashes,
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator II WW setting does not work, Jurassic Pack
Operation Genesis runs 'funny', and over 12 games I tried (the ones my son
plays), only 4 was working really fine.

At the end I decided to go back to Win XP.......
