Game display window stays small

When I play games like Microsoft pinball, Age of Empires, or Starcraft, the game window stays small with a large black border around it. Sometimes the display window enlarges to full screen but most times they stay small and seeing the action in the game is nearly impossible. This is on a Dell inspiron with windows xp. I have tried different compatiblity options but they do not help. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Robert,

There's a function key combination to toggle your laptop
to fullscreen, most likely pressing Fn and t should do it.
