G&G prefilled cartridges

Anyone have ant experiences with the G&G pre filled cartridges?
They are highly recommended by Neil Slade. From what I have
read they are filled with formula labs ink and are cheaper than
empty cartridges for refilling. This is confusing since Neil is
saying that G&G is truer color than formula labs ink, and why
are pre filled cheaper than empties? I have looked and can't
find any references to the fading qualities of the G&G ink.
How do the photos hold up?

The application is a Canon IP5000. I have been using MIS
but have been experiencing the Cyan cartridge sponge drying
out after 2 or 3 refills. Having to buy new empties is making
refilling more expensive. The BCI-3 BK should be pigment
ink. Does G&G use dye or pigment?

Thanks

Ray

I don't recall that Neil Slade said that G&G carts were filled with
Formulabs. He has revised his web site information on inks and indicates
that the G&G carts he is using have excellent color response. He did report
that a batch of their carts were defective and caused some leaking, but he
then reported that they are now ok. It is difficult to find info on fading
for most aftermarket inks. Willhelm evaluated a few as I recall.

If you have not done so already, check in to the Nifty Stuff Forum and read
the topic on fading tests done by participants, the G&G cart topic by Slade,
and a topic on purging of carts after several refills. You can make a very
simple device with a few dollars worth of parts from a hardware store that
goes on your sink faucet. You can backflush a cart in just a few minutes,
dry it out completely for a few days, and it then refills and works like new
again.
