all these are linux for those who have no clue...
No, it doesn't interest me at all. The only times that I have used any
variety of Unix operating systems is when I was paid to do that. That
situation no longer obtains.

You know, it's kinda sad, really, when the lintrolls have to
spam-vertise new distros in a Windows newsgroups desperately seeking
converts.... Is there a telethon planned? Maybe something like one of
those pledge drives public radio and TV are always doing?

Well the Linux community doesn't have a $1Billion to spend, like Microsoft
when it comes to announcing its "latest and greatest". Ubuntu is gaining in
popularity by word of mouth from regular endusers. Don't feel threatened
Windows Fanboy, just because something as elegant as the new Ubuntu has
come out. Only the smart will convert over anyways.

Love and Kisses,
Doris

I have never said that any linux distro is more user friendly than XP.

I have also said that Vista is as non user friendly as linux.
Therefore Vista is Linux.

If anyone that wants an EASY Linux, Ubuntu is the way to go. It's perfect
for the beginner and has the best compatibility that I've found.

I'll have to download the new version. I hope a LiveCD is available now. :)

If you think that's pathetic, you should visit COLA
(comp.os.linux.advocacy) and see all the wintrolls at work!!

No. Not even close. Linux works.

And yet again it still wont work on my system! Makes it very hard to even
try it out when the live CD crashes. Coaster # 5 of Ubuntu is in the
wastebasket.

You're coming on a VISTA USER GROUP and getting all offended when someone
dares to defend Vista? Get a life cupcake.

Better check your burner, sounds like it has a problem.

Actually, I didn't even defend or mention Vista. I simply pointed out
how pathetic and desperate the Lintrolls were making themselves appear. I
daresay that a lot more people would be willing to try Linux if they weren't
put off by the antics and manners of so very many of the Linux "advocates."
The Lintrolls, with their irrational, almost religious, fervor, are doing
their "cause" more harm than good.

And, just for clarification, I usually have one Linux distro or another
running on a spare machine for experimentation. Who knows? Maybe if I ever
come across a distro that can meet all of my needs, run all of the
applications (not watered-down open source "equivalents") I want to use, and
has device drivers readily available for anything I want to add, I just
might switch to Linux on my primary machine. Linux has come a long ways,
and makes an excellent server, but it's simply "not ready for prime time" as
a home consumer desktop OS.
