fuzzy dim video with 1900XT

Hi,
I just replaced my nvidia 7300GT with an ATI 1900xt and now my video
is "fuzzy" (KINDA like a very concentrated TV interference, if I sit
and stare it is quite noticeable) ALSO my screen is considerably more
dim with the color faded. Making changes to my monitor configuration
and/or through the ATI tools doesn't help matters.
The onyl thing I have changed is the video card, but here are my
system specs:

AMD Atholon 64 4000+
KN8 SLI Abit MOBO
ATI 1900XT with 512 memory by Sapphire
2 x 512 DDR 400 (kingston)
540W Sunbeam power supply
(It has its own dedicated power connector for the card)

Post if you have any suggestions, i'll be on here later tonight.
Thanks

Didn't mention your monitor.

LCD or CRT?

If LCD, is it connected via DVI, or analog through the DVI-VGA adapter?

If CRT, are you using some software supplied by the CRT mfr to control
geometry, brightness, etc. through Windows (as opposed to the monitor OSD)?

Tried the other port on the 1900XT?

Hi,
I have a NEC (crt) monitor connected through a DVI connector.
When I first plugged it in and started up windows it looks GOOD. But
after I install the ATI catalyist drivers (the ones released on 9/10)
the screen blinks a few times and comes back fuzzy and dim.... never
to go away with any reset or anything.

I have no software for the CRT controlling the brightness or anything,
and changing the brightness with the buttons on the monitor itself
doesn't help at all.
I did try the other port and I have the same problem. (and another
DVI connector)
Thanks,
-Josh

Make sure you are running at the same resolution and refresh rate you did
with the 7300GT. Check the "color" section of Catalyst Control Center to
make sure the brightness and gamma sliders aren't cranked to the extremes.

I checked everything.... I was posting on the Sapphire forums as well,
apparently people are having problems with ATI drivers and Vista, ATI
pointing the finger at Microsoft and Microsoft pointing the finger at
ATI (nvidia works ok). So instead of dealing with Vista I chose to
start clean with XP.... again.... I had to install the driver twice,
but my 1900xt is now running smoothly. Thanks for the help, I hope I
can be of some too, to someone out there with a similar problem.
