function to display page number in cell

i wrote a report in excel and place header rows to print on top of every
page. i need to put a page number in one of the cells in the header. i know
there is a macro posted in this newsgroup but it only insert the page number
on the active cell. i need a function that can be inserted in the cell.
 
the header automatically supports displaying the page number. It sounds
like you are talking about Rows to Repeat at the top rather than the header.

If you have the code you speak of, then you should be able to adapt it to
work with a specific cell. If you can't post the code an perhaps someone
can suggest how to modify it.
