Function 'Save movie' uncomplete results

Hello
I've build up a movie maker 2 file ('xxx.WSWMM) created with pictures only,
no movies and so on.
When I call 'Filmdatei speichern' (German Version) I think that mean save as
movie with file type WMA, the process is running. But never completely to the
end of the WSMMM-File. Or better until the end but on the beginning it is
running very slow and after different points the process is running faster.
Started after 30 or 50 % sometimes after 90.
If I play the WMA file with media player the movie has always the same run
time (20 minutes but nor the same file size) and so I'm not able to see all
the pictures of the whole movie.

I have installed movie maker Version 2.1.4024.1.
All available updates from Micosoft
NFTS file system (not FAT32)
Swapper file from 1534 to 60000

Thanks in advance
Rainer

Hi Rainer
If your movie is 20 minutes long and consists of nothing but pictures your
issue is likely to be one of two things.

1) Bad, corrupt, or incompatible files. If you are using JPG files you
should probably convert them to BMP.
2) The project is too complex for your system resources in which case
splitting it into two or three segments would fix things for you. For help
doing this see my website Movie Maker -> "Split a Project" tutorial.

I would suggest to you though that if you are only working with pictures and
audio that you check out Microsoft Photo Story 3. It is designed to work
with still images and audio and has far better transitions and way better
control over those transitions. Downlink also on my website.

Hello 'Wojo'

Thank you ever so much for your response.
I don't think that I have problems like point 1 because I used the function
'High Quality Video(small)' in betwenn how in the support side of Microsoft
described (method 2). Wow it fantstically ran faultlessly. Before I tried it
on 2 different PCs. And with this option it runs on both. I tink that this is
the indication that the source is ok.

Point 2:
I don't think that I have a resourcen problem with my PC:
- Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3200 Mhz
- Bus 200 Mhz
- Storage 1024 MB
- and a lot of free disk space for the page / virtuell storage.

But now I will nevertheless try your recommendation and the source split.
The possibility is higher that it will run. Although I could already prepare
the film up to 98 per cent before, too. But at 20 per cent the error just
partly already got, too.

After I have tried the split I will inform you over this medium here.

Do I need to convert to individual movie file (1 of 3, 2 of 3 & 3 of 3) or
can I just import as project file to the master project file?

You need to save each separate piece as a movie file. (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of
3).
When they are all done import each separate AVI or WMV file and drag them to
the timeline to create your final movie.
Since you don't have all the transitions anymore (they are now part of the
AVI or WMV) the project will no longer be too complex.
I wrote this in greater detail on my website [Movie Maker -> How-To -> Split
a Project]
