Function Key F4 does not repeat my last edit in PPT.

In powerpoint when I make an edit to an object and then try to repeat it
using F4 - nothing happens. In the edit menu the repat option is greyd out
and says "can't repeat"

Do I have some option set incorrectly?

For what ist's worth the repeat key doesn't seem to work exactly like it did
in previous versions.

Sometimes it does not repeat the last action upon using a button on a
toolbar. But if your perform the same function through the menu then it
seems to work. Just what I experienced using the F4 key.

Could you elaborate on what you are trying to achieve?

It will depend on the most recent action taken and the type of object. What
action are you trying to repeat? What version of PowerPoint are you using?

Here is an example: I have a slide with a number of coloured rectangles. I
double click on the first and change its colour from blue to green, say. I
click OK. I then seelct another rectangle and press F4.

Nothing happens. This used to repeat the previous edits.

If I select edit on the toolbar - the repeat option is greyed and says
"can't repeat"

It doesn't work if you double click the object to make the initial change. But,
if you select the first box and click on the paint bucket and make the change
there, it is repeatable. That's in PowerPoint 2003. You didn't tell us what
version you are using.
