Can I get F4's functionality back in PowerPoint 2003?

In previous versions of Powerpoint, the F4 key functioned well to repeat last
actions. Now with 2003, it hardly functions, and never with graphics -- where
I need it most. Is this just a configuration issue? Or has the function
disappeared?

Regretfully this kinda got worse of late.
Any keystroke replaces the last command executed.
This makes a lot of sense but isn't there some way to NOT include the
navigation keys?
It didn't used to be that way but now if you edit something, page down
to the next slide to do the same thing, hit CNTL+Y, you get the page
down repeated :-0
Very confusing plus frustrating.

Thx for the ear.

Tried Ctrl+Y just now, saddly no joy. I'm running Office 97 at home, have
2003 but fear to install it with so many "improvements" that make it less and
less workable. Drat...

You know, I had some users at my office complain of the same thing. But when
they went to show me what it was that wasn't working, it worked just fine.

There *was* something that didn't work exactly the same with the F4, but we
found a workaround. I'll try to remember to ask the users what it was that
wasn't responding as expected to the F4...
