function in a cell

hello
i want to know, if it is possible to compute a function in same cell
where I insert the variable.
ex: Cell A1: = x * 20 //where x is the variable to insert.

If I understand you correctly, no, a cell cannot hold the value and a
formula. It can only hold one. You would need to put the formula in an
adjacent cell, or if it was a consistent rule (such as multiply the input by
20) then you could VBA worksheet change event.

only possible if you use VBA (process the worksheet change event). I
would recommend using an adjacent cell to store the formula result

thanks for your comments.
I knew the second alternative, but I think that the second is better
too. I would just know, if it is possible or not.
