Full home folder path not connecting.

The drive connects to \\server\\share rather than
\\server\\share\folder\folder

I've seen from many posts on Usenet and various forums that the
work-around for this issue is to apply the policy :
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\ Always
wait for the network at computer startup and logon_ as described
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305293/en-us

This isn't a satisfactory permanent fix and I wondered if anyone,
Microsoft included, had addressed this and revealed a proper fix.

Thanks

Andy

Why not? I enable that via group policy in all my clients' networks. Have
you tried it to see if it works? I can't speak for its efficacy in resolving
your specific issue, but it's not a bad policy to implement anyway.

It adds to the boot/log on time and also cannot be applied to laptops.
So you have accepted that fast-logon doesn't function correctly and are
happy to simply ignore it as a feature of XP? Surely a fix should be
found?

Hmmm. I apply this to laptops, too. Have you tried?

Yes, I have, for domain-member computers.
Surely a fix
should be found?

Perhaps there is another fix; however, I've been satisfied with my
configuration and don't have the problem you describe. It may not suffice
for you; you're under no obligation to take my free advice. :)

Not personally, but my colleague in Paris reported that this prevents
logging on to the laptop when it's off the domain. I guess that's not
the case then?

I have to admit I've been told this issue exists without actually
experiencing it first hand, so maybe I should find some time to do
that. No, it's true I don't. I am however grateful for the advice :)

More testing required.. as usual...
