FTP will NOT list files.......

This is really driving me f******* crazy
If anyone can help it would be a godsend

On my XP box I can log in to any ftp account via a dos box ( ftp command )
can even retrieve and upload files but the bloody thing will NOT list files
at all.
Similarly with the built in ftp in internet explorer
A third party program (absolute ftp - trial version ) works like a charm in
every respect.
I have tried uninstalling above but nothing works. The command just says "
Opening data for /bin/ls " and sits forever like that.

Please could someone truly knowledgeable help me with this.

I guess if you enable PASV mode it will work fine.

Try typing:

QUOTE PASV
