ftp timeout using Windows Explorer

I keep getting a dropped connection due to timeout when I upload via
ftp a batch of files to my ftp server. This is on a free hosting
service so they are not likely to be of much help. Just in case it is
not the server dropping the connection, can anyone tell me if there is
a setting in Windows XP for timing out ftp uploads via Windows
Explorer?

They are probably using something like "Site Server 3.0" and have setup the
system to: "set up a timeout for Usage Import" to disable the FTP Port with a
timeout.

In answer to FreeComputerConsultant, yes, the upload sends many files
before timing out. From what both of you are saying, it sounds like
the ftp server is to blame. Oh well, I guess I'll have to spend a
couple hours chopping up and sending directories. I still would be
curious to know if Windows XP-Windows Explorer has any related
settings for its ftp capabilities and where to access them. Thanks
for any help.

XP is not a server. You can install IIS in Pro or better, and that runs FTP
as a protocol. IIS can control various aspects of the upload to it, but
controling uploads to another server are still not available. Only the server
admin is going to have those rights.
