XP Pro does have FTP server capabilities. You need to install IIS. This
creates a regular web server (http) and, optionally, an ftp server. From my
limited experience with IIS, it's not the best FTP server. Serv-U FTP is one
that I used, but I believe it's only free on a trial basis. You have to pay
after a while. Google for some, I'm sure there's a freebie out there. Short
of that, IIS will do it, but only in XP Pro, not XP Home.
Yes, XP PRo does have IIS, but it really is not good. I
would look at Bulletproof or Serve-U... I personally use
Bulletproof and was very easy to set up. Serve-U is very
similar and comparable... I think you would be MUCH
happier using either of them than wrestling with IIS and
all of its issues... just my .02 cents
