Have the Win XP Home ed build-in FTP feature? How to transfer (ftp) files
via web browser? If so, what mode it use, binary or ascii?

Yes.

No. i think you'll find it's only included on Pro.
 
Not clear. Have to transfer files via web browser? Different types of files
requires different mode. How to set specific mode acii (for .pl, .cgi files)
and binary (for images files)??????

That's probably what you're thinking about. XP Pro includes IIS, which
includes an FTP server. There are third-party FTP servers available
which will work on XP Home.

Open the site in IE using the syntax I mentioned in the prior post. The FTP
site will look much like a regular set of folders. Right-click a file and
select Copy to Folder; then select a local folder for the destination.

Seems you are making this sound more difficult than it really is. ;)

As an example, click this link: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com and browse around.
