Hello,

I set Windows Email (Tools, Options, Compose, Compose Fonts Mail:) to 12 pt.
Times New Roman. It used to work until recently. Now, when I click on
Create Mail the fonts are frozen on Ariel. How can I get this fixed?

I don't know but Ariel is a mermaid in a Disney movie.

Earle

It has been reported that installing the IE8 beta freezes the Windows Mail
fonts to Times New Roman, but I'm not familiar with it being frozen to Arial.

It is possible that your antivirus program or one of your other security
programs may be blocking writes to the registry. Changes can't be saved
if they can't be written to the registry.
Some of the security programs known to do this are:

Ad-Aware Ad-Watch
IBM Access Connections
Kaspersky
McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware
Norton AV
Spyware Blaster
Spybot> Tools> IE Tweaks
Spybot- Teatimer
Spysweeper
Spyware Doctor
Zone Alarm (free) 6.5, reported to be fixed in later versions.

Hi Gary,
FYI.
I had disabled incoming and outgoing email scanning in my Norton Internet
Security.
When i turned it back on, my selected fonts are operating.
Thk.

I wouldn't have an antivirus that messed around with my email program.
Uninstalling Norton will prevent it from causing problems in the future.

Hi Gary,
I was wrong in reproting that re-activating email scan in Norton System
Works enabled the Times New Roman 12 Pt Font that I had chosen under the
Compose tab. I am still stuck on Ariel 12 pt when I open Create Mail window
in Windows Mail. As I wrote before, I didn't have this problem a month ago.
I wonder if recent automatic downloads of Windows Updates might have caused
the problem.

I doubt that any Windows Update caused this because nobody else has
reported this particular problem.

As I see it, you have two options:

1. The only way you can prove or disprove that Norton is the culprit is to
uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

2. Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more
resistant to the adverse effects of intrusive antivirus products:

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:
