Hi everyone,
I like to read my messages (mail and newsgorups) in Lucida Console. I also
like to compose my messages in this font but it seems that Windows Mail
insists on using some kind of ugly Times New Roman-like font.
Here's what I've done to attempt to change this (to no avail):
In the main Windows Mail window, I go under "Tools | Options...".
On the "Read" tab I click the "Fonts" button. For both "Proportional font"
and "Fixed-width font" I select Lucida Console. Next, I go to the "Send" tab
and make sure "Plain Text" is set for both the "Mail Sending Format" and
"News Sending Format". Finally, I go to the "Compose" tab and set the "Mail"
and "News" fonts to "9 pt. Lucida Console".
If I now go under the "Format" menu in the current window I'm using to type
this message, and I select, "Rich text (HTML)", then indeed I get my Lucida
Console -- but I don't want to send HTML mail! In fact, if I try to send
HTML mail Windows Mail gives me a nice warning after I hit the Send button.
I want to send "Plain Text" and I want the options to work like they're
suppose to.
Still, when I compose a message (like this one I'm typing now) or I read an
email or newsgroup the font appears in the ugly New Times Roman. Why must be
it be so hard? Why Microsoft? Why??? And while I'm at it, why must I bailout
these failed banks? Let them suffer, even if I have to suffer a little too.
