Frozen Mouse & Keys

I am using MS XP and both the mouse and keys are frozen. Any help to
correct this is appreciated.

Does it freeze everytime you boot up? If so, it could be hardware or
software related.
Try tapping F8 next time you startup and select Safe Mode from the
Menu.
If WinXP boots up Ok, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System
Tools>System
Restore. Just follow the instructions for a restore. Go back a week if
you can.

Are they in the correct sockets ?
 
Are they wired or wireless? If wireles have you tried changing
batteries?
