frozen document

I've returned to a document to modify it but nothing in the doc. works. There
is no response from any toolbars, the cursor is locked in one position, I
can't use keyboard shortcuts, can't even track from left to right. I've made
a copy but the situation is the same. This is the only doc. on which this
happens.

Have you tried Open and Repair (assuming that it is available in your version)?

Thanks for that, Stefan, I'll keep it in mind although I'm not sure if Open
and Repair is available in XP Home. Wouldn't you know it, though; I closed
down for the night and when I started up next day, the problem had righted
itself.

Thanks again for your help though. For some reason, I couldn't reach your
