For the past several weeks, I have been unable to access my FrontPage web
using my laptop (a Toshiba Satellite, running Windows XP SP1 and FP2000) and
a DSL connection. I can access the server with FrontPage from other machines,
and other FrontPage webs hosted by other ISPs from my laptop, but I simply
cannot access the most critical site I own.
There are no error messages; the program simply times out, and I have to
close FrontPage using the three-fingered salute (Ctrl-Alt-Del).
I can, however, browse the website with no problem. I can ping the site at
port 80, run a successful trace route, but CANNOT telnet into the site. I
also have FTP access, but MS recommends against using FTP lest it corrupt the
FP server extensions.
I've had extensive voice, online and e-mail conversations with tech support
at my web host (Hostway), my ISP (SBC Internet), and my hardware provider
(Toshiba), with no results. I am NOT running any firewall or anti-virus
software, am NOT on a network, and both my web hosting company and DSL
provider assure me they are NOT blocking my IP address.
I've also done several complete uninstall/reinstalls of the software, as
well as running the repair utility on the installation disc.
Help.....
