FrontPage - Using webpages designed in Photoshop

S

Su

Hello, I am a newbie to FrontPage. I designed my webpages in Photoshop,
took them into ImageReady(sliced and optimized) and then into Frontpage. I
have no problem linking anything or getting it loaded to my site. The
problem I'm having is when I click on my site to any of the pages it looks
like the various slices are downloading separately. I have optimized the
slices for web, the pages are fairly colorful with a full page design as
background. Is that simply a no no, is it too much for a website to handle?
Does anyone have any ideas, am I missing something?
System XP / Folders are on my local hard drive / took site down for the
time being 'til I get this fixed
Thanks in advance for any advice. Su

Photoshop is for images, not web pages.
Frontpage is for designing web pages.

Not quite sure what you are trying to do.

Please be more specific.

You may not have optimized enough.

URL?? Let us see.
I know my self that I never like to watch sites load that are made with all
graphics... they are usually too slow and are disjointed in their initial
appearance.

I took the site down 'til I can get this fixed and or know what I'm doing.
It's actually mainly just the background portion that could be considered a
graphic, it's just a subtle fractual design in two shades of pale orange.
Thanks for your response

If I understand you, you're saying that you shouldn't take a design from
photoshop (in this case it's basically a relatively subtle background) and
use it in FrontPage or should you just not use any designed background for a
website? Are photoshop and frontpage not compatable. I am new at this, so
that's why I'm asking.

Thanks Rob, I did optimize pretty fully or so I thought. I'm thinking I
might have missed something in the way you are supposed to handle slices.
Appreciate your response. Su

Of course they're downloading separately - you've sliced them up into
separate images!

Hard to help without seeing the page. Generally when I slice and dice images
I use only what I need and discard any extraneous images...usually the
banner area and whatever I'm gonna use for trim...the rest would be normal
page background.
