Frontpage Updates all .htm files in a folder without prompting

E

Edward Burnes

Hi all,

I have a problem with saving files in Frontpage. When I
make updates to certain .htm files within a folder,
Frontpage then applies the theme of that file to all
the .htm files within that sub-web.

I don't want this to happen as I have some .htm files that
were created in other applications and when Frontpage
applies its themes the formatting in the files gets ruined.

Any ideas on how I can stop Frontpage from doing updates
to files other than the ones I've actually opened.

Annoyed.

You have two options:

1. Open each file that you don't want theme or shared border, and disable
the item for that page.

2. Move these page to folder, then convert the folder to a subweb.

The problem occurs as soon as I open the file. I don't
even get a chance to alter it before it propigates the
change throughout the whole folder.

You have to open each file once to disable the display of the theme or
shared border on the specific page or move all pages to a subweb and then
remove the theme or shared border.

Thanks Thomas,

Can you help with another problem.

I recently moved my web to a different web folder
structure and am having problems when Frontpage re-edit
the html source back to the original location. Example
below.
==========================================================
size="10"></font></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="62"></td>
<td width="80">
<p align="center"><font face="Tahoma">
<input border="0" src="images/search-
btn.gif" type="image"

onMouseOver="this.src='/sdesk/web/Templates/buttons
/search-btn-hover.gif'"

onMouseOut="this.src='/sdesk/web/Templates/buttons/
search-btn.gif'" width="69" height="29"></font></p>
===========================================================

When I open the file in notepad and remove the /sdesk
reference the navigation is OK. If I then make any changes
to this file or any others within the same folder it
changes the file to have the reference to /sdesk again. I
cannot work out where Fromtpage is getting this
information from to make the updates.

Try changing:

'/sdesk/web/..

to

'../sdesk/web/..

Thomas,

I actually want it to be '/web/..' however every time I
fix the .htm file in Notepad and then open it again in
Frontpage it adds the /sdesk reference.

What I can't work out is where it is getting this
information from.

Edward.

FP is not going to work with '/foldername' it either has to be '../' or
'foldername/' and this is all dependent on fact that you currently have a
FP web open and that all content is within the current open FP web.
