Frontpage shared borders

We've been using frontpage 2000 SP3 for certain pages for years. It's
worked just fine for us until now.

In the past when you made a change to any part of a border and saved that
one file FrontPage would change the borders of all pages AND save and
re-date stamp all the files with those borders. This process would take a
few minutes everytime you would save one page as it whipped through saving
and re-date stamping.

Now the change is made in the borders ok on all pages but it's done
instantly but no other pages are re-date stamped. The problem is that when
we copy (we do not use FP publish but FTP) to our webserver the old file is
not overwritten and not changed apparently because of the date
problem....(we are investingating this)

I guess my question is how do we get back to the old settings where
FrontPage would change the borders of all pages AND save and re-date stamp
all the files.

We've tried to reset the shared borders using the "all pages" but get this
error which more or less says - an error has occured accessing your FP web
files see servers system log for more details. Have checked all reports and
don't see a system log. Have also looked on the Office directory.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

The "system log" referred to in the error message refers
to the server system log. Have your host check that log.

Hi Rick,
We're not publishing at all to the server. We're just editing the files on
the client side. When we try to change the shared borders for "all pages" we
get the error message. Is there a local client error log file. The error
seems to say so.

I don't know of a log file for the Front Page disk based
webs.

I assumed this was being published to a server since you
state: "The problem is that when we copy (we do not use
FP publish but FTP) to our webserver ...". There is no
need to use FTP, or http publishing for that matter, if
you are working on a Front Page disk-based web, ie, one
on your PC. The other reason I assumed you were
publishing was that web sites aren't very useful if they
aren't published to a webserver.

Do you perhaps have server software on your developmental
PC? If so, that server software log would be the one you
are looking for.

Locally see FrontPg.log & wecerr.txt in your TEMP folder
