Frontpage Intranet on workstation VS Server?

Hi,

My basic question is, should frontpage work the same whether it is installed
on a workstation with IIS and extensions loaded, or a separate server?

I am trying to use a fairly beefy workstation (xp professional) with IIS and
FPSE 2002 installed for an intranet for my office.

I did not publish the pages from my workstation to the IIS workstation, I
used WS FTP to transfer the pages.

The pages worked fine until I tried to use forms. I tried to use the forms,
and they gave me the errmsg that the server needed to have extensions loaded,
which it did.

I now have read that I can't use WS FTP to transfer the web pages from my
local machine to the remote machine, I now read that I have to use http//
within frontpage to transfer or publish the pages, or the FPSE become corrupt.

I understand that I need to re-install the FPSE on the beefy workstation
that has that and IIS installed.

But, is there a problem with running forms and extensions on a workstation
that has IIS and FPSE loaded on it, or should it function the same as a
Server? Or should I just flatten the whole thing, and put a different
operating system on it?

Thanks,

Forms will run on a winXP workstation with a server and extensions on it.
However, you are limited to 10 simultaneous connections (not users, but
connections). So, if you have more than 2, or max of 3 people opening the
web/forms on WinXP, it will lock out.

The keyword here is FTP.
Never FTP to an extended server, always publish using the http:// address.

You will probably need to repair the extensions and then republish.

PS
Only exception to forms working locally is if they include Email you will need to be running a SMTP server
