Good Afternoon:

After updating the (_includes sub-folder's) "Default, foot &
whatsnew.htm" files I discovered that when viewing (any) files inside
FP (v2002) that they appear fine... however when previewed in the
(v6.0.2800.1106) browser they appear as multiple pages, where the
pages repeat themselves from left to right.

I have seen similar problems before, but they were limited to old /
defective server extensions, and not on the local computer.

After much consideration I decided to continue with a website update,
the publishing was thankfully was uneventful, and the website appears
just fine.

I've blown-out the browser's cache, ran FPCleaner to clear both the
temp and web cache... to no avail. :(

When right clicking on any / all files in FP's Navigation view under:
properties, all report the following error:

(1) A FrontPage Include component references URL
"_includes/Default.htm", but the file for this URL cannot be found.

(2) A FrontPage Include component references URL
"_includes/whatsnew.htm", but the file for this URL cannot be found.

(3) A FrontPage Include component references URL "_includes/foot.htm",
but the file for this URL cannot be found.

Any assistance is gladly accepted.

Thank You

Hi Tom:

Thanks for getting back to me...

"I have seen similar problems before, but they were limited to old /
| defective server extensions, and not on the local computer"

If you are talking about viewing on your local machine before publishing to
your remote web,
the extensions on your local computer must also be updated
with the appropriate patches and updates.

This is a sudden onset problem, from a long-term installation. Tell
me, could the extensions on my local machine have become corrupted?
and if so, what do I download, extensions, patches, updates. Which
ones?

BTW; after a bit more investigation, I can verify that the "corrupted
extension" syndrome doesn’t occur "live" on the server, nor does the
error messages (as below) appear.

Does the problem, as I’ve described, sound like it can be repaired,
short of a re-installation?

I look forward to your further direction...

Thanks

Tom G, Sr.

Good Morning Tom & Stefan:

Thanks again for your replies, they’re appreciated.

I would ask your council once again on the following specific
questions:

"the extensions on your local computer must also be updated
with the appropriate patches and updates."

For info in Service Pack 1 & 2 for FP2002 / MSO XP - see:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q325671

I reviewed the Service Pack breakdown, and at first read, it would
appear that the only FP "patch" applied is one for language… quite
frankly, I’m leery applying the Pack as advertised. It appears to
"fix" a lot of things that (in my case) aren’t broken.

I previously asked:

Does the problem, as I've described, sound like it can be repaired,
short of a re-installation? And if re-installation is the way to go,
why would anyone hesitate to pursue this course of action. What
consequences, if any could one encounter?

The request is simple, I just want it fixed, as quickly and painlessly
as possible.

Q: Do I or don’t I re-install?

Thank You

Tom G, Sr.

If you are running FP 2002 or MS Office 2002, definitely install the all the SP
- Reinstalling won't do anything w/o the SP
- Don't Reinstall

If you are running a server (as a host or locally under Windows) also install the FP SE SP
