Frontpage has been downloaded too many times..

and can now no longer be used to update and maintain the website. I've never
done websites before but volunteered to help with this. The issue is...
needing to maintain a website created with Frontpage, but the program has
been passed around to too many volunteers to download on their computers and
now no one can get into the website to make any changes, updates and so
forth. I do not have Frontpage on my computer. I have Vista and don't want to
dwnld an old program, plus it probably won't let me. What should I do about
it? The organization needs something transferable, that others after me can
access when I opt to no longer volunteer my services. Should we go with
something completely different?

What do you mean that FP has been downloaded to many times?

FP was never available to be downloaded, except as trial versions with a time limit.

Most software requires each user to have license copy or a site license for multiple copies or a
single computer with the software installed that can be used each responsible individual in the
organization.

If your use of the word "download" = INSTALL and the other previous users of
FrontPage have removed it from their machines, I think you can install it on
your machine then call Microsoft to get the key to work.

Good luck.

I think what "radio" meant, was it has been installed all over the
place, with multiple users/authors and now nobody knows what's going
on...

Thank you Rob for your help. Would we have to keep calling Microsoft
everytime this position, that I'm filling right now of maintaining the
website, gets filled by others and therefore have to install Frontpage on
their computers?

Do you or anyone have a recommendation of something that multiple people can
use without the issue of licensing and so forth?

Hi Radio
This might be a good time to use a content management system (CMS) . With
CMS the website can be updated online by authors who only have permission to
change specified pages. Because its done by updating remote web vai a web
browser you don't need multiple versions of frontpage just one for backing
up and making magor site changes
Here is a good one

You should check with MS and see if there's is volume licensing on
FP...dunno though since it's been discontinued, so probably not.
