frontpage extensions

Sam

I just upgraded to FrontPage 2003 and was wanting to take
the benifits of using FrontPage Server Extensions. I'm
wanting to print reports and anaylize usage of my website.

HOW TO: Save and Print Reports About a Web Site by Using
FrontPage
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299636

I think it needs FrontPage Sever Extensions. However,
there are no versions of Frontpage Server Extensions for
2003. The Help file says to use FrontPage 2002, Windows
Server 2003 or use SharePoint Services. I'm running
Windows XP and don't have any way of getting these files.

I do have FrontPage 2000 but I already made an upgrade
and don't know what my options are. Perhaps, do you know
of any way I can get them for my website?

There are no new extensions for FrontPage 2003. It uses the 2002 extensions.

Do you know if there is any way to get the 2002
extensions. What about downloading these extensions from
Microsoft?

I'm running XP Pro but I'm not hosting a website so I
don't think I need to run IIS. My host already support
FrontPage server extensions but I didn't know that FP2003
doesn't include any server extensions. I would have
upgraded to 2002.

Now, that I already upgraded to FrontPage 2003 from
FrontPage 2000, I'm really stuck because I think in order
to get the FrontPage Server Extensions for 2002, I need
to uninstall 2003 and purchase a copy of 2002 to install,
Then reinstall 2003 to make the final upgrade.

No, you aren't stuck. FP 2003 uses FP 2002 server extensions.

Without a server, it is not possible to install the extensions.

1) Use of the std report in FP 2002/2003 does not require the FP SE
- the process in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299636 can be used w/o the FP SE
2) Only the Usage Analysis reports require the FP 2002 SE (and must be enabled)
- best run on your hosted server (not your local PC), so your Web Host Provider must have the FP 2002 SE w/ Usage Analysis enabled

Stefan, option 2 is what I want. So, how do I go about
this? Do I need to purchase FrontPage 2002 in order to
get this to work? How do you enable it?

Will I still need FrontPage Server Extensions installed?

Can you use the FP 2002 extensions on a Windows 2000 server?
