One of the things that I don't like about Publisher is not
getting a clear, crisp font when viewed as a web page.

Can any of you tell me if Frontpage is more, clear, crisp?

Does Frontpage have additional font options besides fonts
from the drop down menu?

Thanks...

View my site below.

You can use any font you want, however in order a for a site visitor to see your font choice, they
must have the font installed on their computer.

Font clarity is subject to so many factors that you can
never get complete control. For example, the visitor may
have font smoothing turned on or off, and there's nothing
you can do about it.

In general, the most common, most boring fonts display the
best. Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana, ...

There are two problems with specifying other fonts:

o The font may have details that are too small for the
computer monitor. No matter what you do, ornate
fonts usually appear malformed on a 72 dpi monitor.

o The Web visitor may not (probably will not) have the
font installed. In that case, the browser will
substitute another font, and who knows what that will
be?

For headlines and banners, you can get more control by
creating GIF files that display text as graphics. This,
however, increases download time.

"Best Practices" say that it is not a good idea to use Publisher to build
web pages. That is NOT its purpose .... build your pages using FrontPage and
the results will be much better. You wouldn't use a baseball bat to hit a
golf ball!

You'd be surprised how far a golf ball will go when hit with a baseball bat.

I know I can literally throw one around a golf course better and with less
strokes/throws than with a golf club. ;-)
