Frontpage bug

I couldn't find where to post reports of bugs for Frontpage so I'm submitting
it here. In Frontpage 2003, if you use an include page inside of a border,
and the include page happens to have an extra <body> statement in it, each
time you save the page a new border will be added.

What happened was someone here accidentally left an extra <BODY> statement
in the middle of a web page. We then included that page inside of a border
on a website. Each time we went to save, a second border would be added to
the web page, and then a third, etc. It took me a while to figure out what
the problem was.

Just thought you'd want to know.

If sombody accidently misspelled a word inside the page, would that be a FP
bug too?

Bob Lehmann

If FrontPage made an additional copy of the word each time the page was saved,
yes.

Craig Schiller

Except, that's not what I said, and that's not what happened.

From the OP...in the middle of a web page.

Bob Lehmann

You said "If somebody accidentally misspelled a word inside the page", which is
the equivalent of someone accidentally leaving an extra <BODY> statement in the
page. They are both user errors. The question is what the program does with such
errors.

Craig Schiller

There is a valid known bug w/ FP include pages duplicating (see below)
- but in your case it is User error (FP requires valid html pages for the includes to work)

There is a major bug in Frontpage. When you save a Powerpoint file into
Frontpage, it often does not appear in the Frontpage directory. This is
particularly true of slideshows. Microsoft acknowledges this is a bug. Does
anyone have any solutions?

You must import the file in FP not save it from Powerpoint to a place
within the Webstructure.
This is as designed and not a bug.
