Frontpage 2003

J

jamos

Hello,

I am having a problem when trying to publish via frontpage 2003 to iis
6.0 on a 2003 server.

The publishing process gets 80 % + done then errors/stops. giving a
error as " the server has unexpectedly terminated the connection".

I have now 5 sub webs all with this error. All i can find is it seems
to have trouble with the asp pages, but can't be sure

Has anyone got any ideas???

cheers

Does the 1mb restriction apply to publishing files? I know, of course,
file sizes should be kept down for best optimal performance of the site, but
I thought this restriction was only for the file-upload component - or is it
a restriction the host admin can put in place generally, for publishing?

Yes.

Then your host probably has the FP SE set to the default maximum of 1 MB
Ask them if they will change it to say 5 MB
Or (if you host also support FTP) move the .pps to a folder of it's own (say named media), convert that folder to a FP subweb and
publish you site excluding subwebs
- the FTP the large .pps file only to the media folder

PS
In case your host does not know how to change the default limit
The command that they can run on the server that will increase the anonymous
upload size for a given web site (for all ports) is as follows :
owsadm -o setproperty -pn vti_maxuploadcontentlength -pv 5000000
The size at the end of the line is in bytes.
The Owsadm.exe can be found at
C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\50\bin folder on their server.

Hi,

Thanks for your mail.

Sorry forgot to mention, this problem is on a intranet.

Please can you tell me how to change the setting. I have access to all the
intranet servers so can change anything that is needed.

Thanks for your help and time already

MaxUploadContentLength
Specifies the maximum size allowed for documents being uploaded to a
document library by an anonymous user. Specify file sizes in bytes (for
example, 3000000 for 3MB). Default is 1 MB (1000000). You must use
vti_maxuploadcontentlength form in the registry to set this value globally
or for a virtual server, as well as a subweb.

Hi,

Thanks guys made the change to "maxuploadcontentlength" using command line.
Does the servers or iis 6.0 need restarting to take on the settings?

I will test this with the users tomorrow to see if it has resolved the problem

Thanks a mil
