FrontPage 2002 memory error messave

Guest

Every time I try to insert a picture from a file in FrontPage 2002, I get an
unexpected error has occured: not enough memory available...
This is a re-installation of the software on a new HP Pavilion a1040n PC
with 1GB of SDRAM. If I click OK, it allows me to insert the picture. I've
read all the posts regarding this error and have tried the following with no
success:
clearing the cache
uninstalling/reinstalling FrontPage 2002
downloading every Windows and Office update available for my PC
disabling Norton Internet Security and AntiVirus
changing the registry to clear the pagefile on shutdow

This software worked fine on my Dell 8100 before I bought the new HP. Any
ideas on how to get rid of this annoying message?

Thanks,
Gina

Make sure you have a web open
Make you import the image into the current open web
Then insert the image into your page

What do you mean by "have a web open"? I maintain the webpage files on my PC
(and always have in the past, without this problem) then publish to the
Internet so I don't have the actual web open but a copy from my hard drive
when I insert the picture file. Have I missed some step when I transferred
all my files to the new PC?

On your local machine you still have to open the local copy via File Menu | Open Web / Site.

To verify, I closed the web I had open in FrontPage, then used File> Open Web
to open the local web that I'm inserting a .jpg into. The page looks blank
but when I click on the folders view, all the files in that web show up. I
opened the specific page I want to insert the picture, tried inserting and
still I get the error message.

Maybe it would help if I noted the differences between the installation on my
old Dell PC and the new HP PC? On the old PC, I had Windows XP Professional
installed, but on the new PC, I have Windows XP Home. On the old PC, I had
MS Office 2000 Professional, but on the new PC I have MS Office 2003 (Student
and Teacher edition). I'm installing a stand-alone version of FrontPage 2002
(not packaged with Office).

You missed the point about importing the image into the current open FP web, then inserting from the
location within the open web on to your page.

Windows XP Home or Pro no impact on this functionality.

However Office apps needs to be install in the order they where release to the public, so Office
2003 needs to be un-installed, then FP2002 installed, then Office 2003.

Also how did you get the web from your old machine on to your new machine?

Hmm... well, the method I've always used to add images to this website is to
insert picture from a file, then browse to the location where I've saved the
images for this web (a separate folder). When I save the page, I get a
secondary dialog box that allows me to save the picture file in the web.
I've never had to import the files into the open web first before inserting
into a page.

To transfer, I copied the entire web folder to a flash drive and saved it to
my new PC. Is this a problem?
