Front panel LEDs, burnt out? Yes or no?

I have two case in which the LED won't work no matter how they are plugged
into the motherboard. Can you burn out the Power and HDD LED simply by
reversing positive and negative?

Thanks

You could test the led without having any connection to the board.
That would give you some added confidence about where the problem
might be. You could use 3 volts from an available flashlight and
a resistor of a few hundred or a thousand ohms. Put the led, the
batteries and the resistor in series (in a loop with one to the
next to the next) and then see if the led lights. If not reverse
the battery terminals and try again. If that doesn't work then
try this with a known working led, to confirm you method.
