front page on internet explorer

I have set up a web site and I used blinking type on one page. This works if
you view the site through Netscape but not through IE. I used FP2003 to
create the site and it is temporarily being hosted at godaddy.com until I get
the kinks worked out. Is there something special I need to do to get the
blinking type in IE? I used the blink option when formatting the font. Any
help would be greatly appreciated by this newbie to web site creations.
Thanks so much.

Is there a REALLY good reason to use blinking anything.... that's quite
passé now ... annoying too.

In this case it is, well, not necessary but appropriate. If it annoys you,
don't go to it. Thanks for your "help".

Hi BKWwebsitehelp,

The blink tag only worked in some versions of Netscape. A better way to do
this that will work in all browsers is to make an animated gif. You will
need to do that in an image editing program that allows you to create
those..and then import into your web and insert that .gif into a page. You
could also do something with programs called "Flash" or "Swish" to create
..swf files.

There are also scripting ways to do it..here is an example:

Please be advised however that many people do not like the effect and it can
also cause some folks who are prone to it..to have seizures.

The <blink> tag (which I assume you're talking about) is pretty much
obsolete and IE apparently just doesn't support it.

Thanks for your help. I will try your suggestions. It's not critical that the
blink work but my use of it is an artistic tribute to old time movie
marquees, so the gag works in this situation. It's also only two words that
blink in very muted type, announcing the opening date of the movie.

Thanks again for your help.
