From Workgroup to Domain...now can not access database

J

Justin VN

Our network has migrated from a Workgroup to a Domain.

Now...
When trying to access the database we get a
message "Microsoft Access can't find the database
file'\\Server\CIDABRCH\projectdatabase\projectdatabase.mdb'
Make sure you entered the correct path and filename.

User permissions, security, groups, mappings, etc. were
implement as per usual on Windows 2000. I tested this
using Administator log in to no success. I CAN open other
files(Excel and Word) in the
\\server\CIDABRCH\projectdatabase folder.

Does something need to be changed in the Access database
programming?

Hi Justin,

If you create a new database file named "test.mdb" and place it in
\\server\CIDABRCH\projectdatabase

from a work station if type from the Start > Run command line
\\server\CIDABRCH\projectdatabase\test.mdb

does it open?

You may be running into something as simple as in this article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;209544

If not, you may want to check with your Network Admin.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

Thanks for the always prompt reply.

Before I proceed with the article Q209544, will this
effect those still in a workgroup?

We have not migrated all workstations to a domain yet.

Cheers Eric,

Justin
