From windows mail, how doi I attach image as a file?

Two items:

from Windows mail, when I attach an image, it shows as an attachment in
outgoing but appears in the message body when received. I want to send as an
attached file. What do I have set incorrectly?

Also, with Outlook I used to get a pop up that asked of I wanted to optimise
the image/file size for email. Is that available in Windows mail?

I know how to do this from my image programs, but I want to be able to reply
to a message then attach a properly sized image as a file.

Thanks for the help.

Windows Mail shows many, but not all, types of attachment files as part
of the message when it displays messages, although seldom for outgoing
messages. There's no setting to change to affect this.

You have no control over what the recipient sees. That's up to the
recipient's email program. Most of them will display any attached .jpg.

Sorry, I don't know how to change the size of a photo when replying.
I've heard this is easier to do in Windows Live Mail.

A workaround is to create a new message in lieu of "Reply" and use your
image program.
