from windows 98 to xp

I also have the same problem. In windows xp, my cd-r is
not recognized. I have checked into registry problems
and properties, but nothing has worked short of
installing a new cd-rw drive. If I am copying a music cd
and use nero, it will do it, but I have not been able to
copy game cd's such as SIMS. Any suggestions?
