I purchased a desktop last month with Vista pre-installed. Now I find out
that my work emails are not compatable with it. I have purchased XP and need
instructions on how to install XP instead of Vista. Please if anyone has any
answers please let me know. Thank you, Angi

Although Vista may certainly have a few bugs in it...
it's not likely that installing XP will help with your email situation.

If you post the exact details...somone can probably help you sort it out

Hi,

It's not that difficult. Boot the system with the XP CD in place and begin
setup (you may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS for this).
At the point where you choose the installation location, delete the existing
system volume. Then create a new one, format it and proceed. Keep in mind
that all data currently on the drive will be lost, so back that which you
don't want to lose.

Hi Philo,

Many companies use email programs like OWA, and these do not work in IE7 if
they are not fully patched. Many network admins lag behind in patching these
servers. Specifically, many have't applied this one:

Wow.
I'm not a big Vista fan...but I'd probably try the "hotfix" first before
going to XP...

OTOH: I've been using XP for years have had virtually no problems...
I've been "fooling" around with Vista for just about a month now and have
found a number of
annoyances :(
Perhaps just formatting the drive and install XP would be in order

Also, don't forget to contact the retailer that sold you the piece of crap
and demand your money back for the Vista "operating system" they charged
you for. Apparently, Microsoft will return your money.

Here is a link with info on how to install XP. You should first check with
the tech support for the computer to find out if there are XP drivers for
it, and if that OS is supported on that computer.

I have heard this rumor before but no one is able to give a source.
Please post the source of the Microsoft refund for OEM Vista.

The retail refund is well known, but the OEM seems elusive.

There is no such thing as SP-3 for windows XP, not yet.
Although there is at least one distributing something called SP-3
presumably intended to confuse the less knowledgeable about the true
facts about Service Packs.

Oh Doris, after all these years, simple matters still confuse you!
Let Rock explain it to you, ok?
