From Standby to Hibernate

My XP laptop seems to go into hibernate after it's been in standby for
a couple hours, but I can't find a setting for this. Can I prevent it
from doing this without disabling hibernate completely?

Thanks,
James

Hello,

This doesn't tell me how to stop the laptop from going into hibernate
once it has been in standby for a given time period. It comes out of
hibernate just fine, but I want it to stay in standby instead.

These settings are in the power options. There are about 12 options that
need to be configured. I don't feel like firing up the laptop to give step
by step instructions.

Nope. I have both Standby and Hibernate set to Never. But when I
manually put it in Standby, it goes into Hibernate sometime afterwards
(seems like 2 hours).

Is it an IBM Thinkpad? Thinkpads had a BIOS option that forced the
Hibernation some hours after the machine went to Standby, when the
batteries became low. As I remember this BIOS feature was called "Safe
Standby" or similar.
