from: field won't go away

Hi, I have a problem with my outlook - I have two accounts set up, one
is with exchange and the other is with pop3. All of a sudden all of my
emails default with the from: field on and filled in with my exchange
name. This is a problem because any mail I send through my pop3
account is telling people to reply to my exchange account which I do
not want. I can clear out my name there and everything works, but
thats a pita, I want that to be off like it was before.

I checked my other computer and it works fine, so its something local
to my machine. I also tried deleting my email profile and creating a
new one and it keeps doing the same thing. This is driving me nuts. I
didn't change anything today and it just started happening. I should
add that if I start a new email the from: field is not there, only on
reply or reply to all.

thanks,

What version of Outlook are you using? In OL2003 you can find the From field
listed on the Options dropdown in Word (when using it as the editor)

My exchange is default, and no I'm not using SBS, its Exchange 2000 and
my computer is XP.

To add to the confusion, I open an additional mailbox (under my profile
under the advanced tab), and under that mailbox if I click reply or
reply to all, it dosen't present the from: field.

That almost seems backwards to me, the from: should appear under the
secondary mailbox but not under mine if anything.

If I understand you correctly..... When you have two accounts set up under
one profile it won't know which one to send from. So it sets one as default
(the first one that was set up). If you'll go into your email accounts setup
you can choose which one to set as default. You can also choose which
account to send it out of - your POP account or your Exchange account.
However, if sending out through your POP account from outside your ISP's
network, you may have problems. They may not allow it or may require that
you log in when sending (authenticate to your SMTP server).

Two Exchange accounts in one profile are treated differently than something
like, say an Exchange account and a POP account. So they won't act quite the
same way.

hth,
Brooke
