Fresh install no "Administrator" named account

Chris

I am in the process of setting Windows XP Pro SP2 on a new computer. But
after finishing there is no "Administrator" named account (An account named
"administrator" with admin rights). Only the username I entered during the
setup is availabe (with admin rights). But that user should not be the
administrator.

Any hints?

Thanks,
Christian

During the install process you would have been asked to set a password
for the Administrator account. Once a user account is set the the
Administrator account does not usually show up on start up. User
accounts are give Adminitrator privaliges by default.

If you forgot the password then you can reset it using the free utility
found at http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/

I think you'll find there IS an "administrator" account - when you set up
a second account with admin rights, the built-in Administrator account is
hidden if you are using the Welcome Screen log-in. To access the built-in
admin account depends on your version of XP, which you failed to tell us,
(and you really shouldn't need to use it unless in an emergency). In Home
Edition boot into Safe Mode, in Pro press Ctl-Alt-Del twice at the Welcome
screen and then use the log-in box to log in to the Administrator account.
